Hi, I’m Scottie! I’m a registered dietitian and diabetes educator here to help you connect the “What” to the “Why”. I believe understanding is the first step and heart of all effective changes in your health journey. My goal is to be your guide while helping you accomplish your goals.
I didn’t start out wanting to be a dietitian. I was halfway through my degree in Public Health when I met my first dietitian while I was a student athletic trainer for my school’s football team. As a former competitive gymnast and swimmer, I had received a lot of contradicting or downright incorrect information about food, diet and nutrition over the years. Becoming a registered dietitian seemed a valuable opportunity to not only learn but help educate others.
During my career, I have worked with patients with a wide variety of conditions and concerns including weight management, renal disease, Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, LADA and general health and wellness. I also have extensive experience with CGMs and all major brands of insulin pumps.
I found my true calling, however, when I became a diabetes educator. I found that most of my patients were told they had diabetes, but not what it was. They were told what to eat (or not eat) but not why. I believe that knowledge is power. I prioritize providing clear, ground-up explanations and guidelines that enable you to eat the foods you love without fear, make manageable changes and see improvements in your health.
I strongly believe that nutrition should be approachable, sustainable and evidence-based. But above all, practical. I’m here for you. Together we can answer every question and address every concern. We’ll work together to make healthy choices a seamless, effortless part of your life.
